Kalamazoo Bicycle Club's KalTour
This is our summer service activity. The Kalamazoo Bicycle Club (KBC) is once again putting on it's Annual Kalamazoo Scenic Bicycle Tour, and the Kalamazoo Valley AMBUCS group has agreed to run the lunch stop on the tour route(s). In return, the KBC will make a donation to the chapter to be used towards providing mobility devices for people who need them.
There are two ways you can participate in this fundraiser. You could sign up to ride in the KalTour and enjoy the cycling that western Kalamazoo County has to offer, or you could offer to help us distribute food, drink, fun and information about AMBUCS to the riders of the KalTour. Either way, you'll enjoy the day meeting a great group of people and learning more about AMBUCS.
Participating in this fundraiser allows the Kalamazoo Valley chapter of AMBUCS to continue it's mission of "Creating Independence for People with Disabilities" and providing educational scholarships for therapists.
AMBUCS involvement in the KalTour came about through a need to replace a mobility device that was stolen from a local AMBUCS recipient. News of the loss reached a member of the Kalamazoo Bicycle Club, and after notifying the rest of the club members, an impromptu fundraising effort quickly raised
awareness and money towards a new device. A desire for the KBC to be more involved in local bike-related social awareness led to the current arrangement, and it's been another win-win for AMBUCS and the KBC.
